International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme – Overview

* Students who are exceptionally good at the language would be considered for Higher Level.

** All Chinese students are recommended to do Chinese A in Group 1.

*** Only Non-Chinese students can opt to do Chinese B SL.

**** Only offered to non-Chinese students and they have to complete the GCSE Chinese in Bridging Year Programme.  


Students must take one subject from each of the groups listed above except Group 6. They could choose one more subject from either Group 3 or Group 4 to replace the Group 6 subject. All subjects, which students plan to study in IB Year 1 and Year 2, should be included in the Bridging Year Programme.

At the end of the BYP year, students need to choose 3HL and 3SL subjects.

Diploma students are required to study a course called Theory of Knowledge (TOK), write an Extended Essay (EE) on a topic of their interest and complete the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component which are the core elements of the IBDP.

No subject can be dropped.
