Objectives
  1. To further enhance effective teaching and active learning by cultivating active learning skills and pre lesson preparation.
  2. To elevate academic achievements in local and international assessments and competitions.
  3. To enhance self-management skills, develop student leadership and further elevate sense of belonging.
  4. To launch programs for students in different target groups on their career and further study planning
  5. To well implement fee remission/scholarship schemes

Implementation Plan

Major Concern: To further enhance effective teaching and active learning by cultivating active learning skills and pre lesson preparation.    
Implementation:          

  1. The internal scholarship schemes (e.g. HKDSE and internal exam scholarship) aim at encouraging students to nurture better learning habits.
  2. Mock JUPAS will be organized again for the F5 students to deepen their understanding on the requirements of programmes in different universities
  3. Mock JUPAS, JUPAS talk, workshops and JUPAS related materials will be provided to F.6 students to make them familiar with the requirement and procedures of JUPAS application.

Major Concern: To elevate academic achievements in local and international assessments and competitions.
Implementation:

  1. Promotion of EAPPS, Mainland, Taiwan university admission will be held for F.6 students in order to broaden their careers planning. 
  2. Different firm visits and university visits will be organized to provide students with real life experience and university admission information.
  3. Workshop will be held in LWL lessons in order to enhance career planning of junior formers.
  4. IELTS preparatory course and IELTS Exam will be organized for F.5 students.

 

Major Concern: To enhance self-management skills, develop student leadership and further elevate sense of belonging.
Implementation:

  1. Join more external scholarship scheme (e.g. Po Leung Kuk, Youde Memorial Scholarship) in order to encourage students to work harder on academic and non-academic areas.
  2. Various types of school-based scholarship will be provided. Students, especially those in senior forms, will be encouraged to take part in more    external examinations and non-academic competitions.

Major Concern: To launch programs for students in different target groups on their careers and further study planning
Implementation:
1.       LE lessons will be provided to ensure that students’ needs at all levels are well catered. In Form 3 there will be a careers planning worksheet for their F.4 subject selection.
2.       Careers Week and Careers Expo will be organized in order to enhance students’ understanding about their careers planning and university entrance.
3.       Various talks, visits and workshops will be organized for different target groups.
4.       Guidance on F4 subject selection, aptitude understanding and careers planning through PATH in Life education will be provided for Form 3 students.
5.       IELTS and other overseas study talks will be organized.
6.       Different visits to firms and faculties can provide different experience for students which facilitate their careers planning.

Major Concern: To well implement fee remission/scholarship schemes
Implementation:
1.      Procedure of application of both external and school-based fee remission / scholarship schemes will be evaluated and streamlined if possible.
2.      Application criteria for scholarships will be reviewed after the release of results of HKDSE, IELTS etc.

Evaluation

Major Concern 1: To enhance self-management and active learning skills.
1. Career Planning (Junior form):

  • More workshop services from different NGOs for LWL with EDB Life Planning Grant.
  • F.3 subject selection lessons were conducted by career teachers twice in the second term. F.3 subject selection booklet was given out.
  • Book fair related to career and jobs was held twice in library.
  • The career world introduction will be strengthened and included in a spiral curriculum of career education next year.

2.         Career Planning (Senior form):

  • Career talk, exhibition and book fair were organized in Career Week.  Career talk on flight attendant was organized for F.6 students.
  • Two workshops of Mock JUPAS were held for F.5 students. Career teachers gave individual counseling to low achievers in the post exam period.
  • All JUPAS, EAPPS and Mainland applications were submitted by F.6 students. This year, more students applied Non-JUPAS programmes which can diversify their career choices. JUPAS talk was organized by Hok Yau Club on 2 July for all F.6 students and parents.
  • Visits to VTC, PolyU, CUHK and HKUST were organized for F.4-6 students in LWL lessons.
  • DSE results were released on 15 Jul. All F.6 students were required to stay behind for counseling.

3.         IB Career Planning

  • F.3 IB introduction and subject selection briefing had been provided to potential students and parents
  • Questionnaires had been provided to IB students about subject selection and interested career programmes in order to facilitate our planning in next year.
  • Visit to HKUST in LWL lesson.
  • PolyU summer workshop for selected students.

Major Concern 2: To elevate academic achievements in international assessments
4.         IELTS Preparatory Course and Exam

  • Preparatory course was conducted by Wall Street. 62 students joined.
  • 91% of F.5 students sat for the IELTS exam.
  • UKVI IELTS was introduced by British Council. This could be an alternative for students next year.

Major Concern 3: To recognize high achievers and provide financial support to the needy
5.         Fee Remission and Scholarship Schemes:

  • There were about 100 successful applicants for school fee remission. The total amount was about two million dollars.
  • Information leaflet will be given to parents next year.
  • 21 students received scholarship from Po Leung Kuk and Youth Arch Association.
