2016 MATE International ROV Competition

Posted on:2016/07/11

Our school Underwater Robot Team, which won the Overall Championship in the IET/MATE Hong Kong Underwater Robot Challenge 2016 - 11th Hong Kong/Asia Regional of the MATE International ROV Competition in April, represented Hong Kong and Asian countries to enter the international final in NASA Johnson Space Center’s Neutral Buoyancy Lab, Houston, Texas, USA from 23 to 25 June.

During the final, 39 teams of senior high schools from different countries prepared a 25-page technical report on the features of respective robots. Each team also designed a poster display for introducing the robot to the public, and made a 15-minute presentation to professional engineers for technical evaluation. Followed by these, each team was given two rounds of missions which had to be completed in 20 minutes for product demonstration scoring.

Thank you for all the hard work and great contribution by our Underwater Robot Team in this school year. The event was definitely an eye-opening learning experience and academic exchange for our young physicists, who ranked 18 out of the 39 teams in the overall result. The team members are as follows.
