Posted on:2015/03/20

Our Chemistry Research Team and Chinese Medicine Research Team entered the Hong Kong Students Science Project Competition 2015 at Hong Kong Science Park in April. Over 200 teams of participants from different secondary schools in Hong Kong joined the competition.
Using the research titled “Remove of Phenol and Dye by Two-Step Process of Titanium Dioxide Catalyzed Photodecomposition and Adsorption”, our Chemistry Research Team was chosen as one of the Top 5 teams and successfully entered the Final Round. The team members Danny Hasan and Achilles Au from Class 5S1 were given the Light Science Award and Honourable Mentions (Invention Stream) Award.
Moreover, our research titled “Authentication of Common Chinese Medicine Using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer (II)” carried out by our Chinese Medicine Research Team received the most popular scientific research award. The team members are Jacky Law, Shireen Rashed, Akashdeep Singh and Hardeep Singh from Class 5S1.
Congratulations to all of them as well as all science teachers of NPL College on their effort and achievements made in the event.
Our research team has been invited to join the 45th IUPAC World Chemistry Congress to be held in Busan, Korea in early-August. We hope they can bring back inspiring ideas in scientific research to all of us.
